Saturday's Sunset

After some scattered showers throughout the day, the rain stopped and I felt up for another adventure in the countryside near my home. I began in the vineyards, which offered a nice view of the Petit and the Grand Saleve, and then headed down towards the Arve. I finally found the path that led along the River and to a marsh that a fellow hiker told me about way back in October.

Petit et Grand Saleve

From one of my many hikes up the Saleve I have these file photos of the river and marsh (bottom right, this one gives you the broader lay of the land with the jet d'eau and Juras in the background) and another one closer up.

Here's the Arve under the evening sky. I then walked over to the marsh began to observe a swan.

But then the sunset shot off some rays to get my attention and I was taken in by Helios' magnificent closing act for that day. I took a final shot and then ran back along the muddy path and then up the gentle slope to Veyrier.

Parc La Grange

Here comes the Swiss Army! I was a bit disappointed when I didn't see a single one of them whip out a little red pocketknife to trim their nails or whittle some wood.

The security detail for HRH Prince Charles and newlywed Camilla on their visit to Geneva? Or just a military exercise in a park?

Parc Moynier: spring evening after rain

Le Printemps arrive à Veyrier

I think my town is just lovely in spring. Sunday I spent 30 minutes at my neighboring church enjoying the beauty of a perfect evening: the trees new-green leaves fluttering in the breeze, the cheery colors of the flower gardens in front, and the soothing sound of water tumbling from a spicket into a large basin.

Another spring fanfare: the entrance to my place is now a full orchestra of flowers ; living melodies in suspended animation.
